Shortfilm Company - What do we do?

"Thank you for all your hard work in capturing our wedding day on video. We were very pleased with the results in spite of originally not even wanting a video! As promised you were completely unobtrusive and yet managed to video many special moments. Thank you again "

The shortfilm company offer a modern approach to film making, from corporate events and school shows, to unobtrusive wedding videos and lively Video & Drama Workshops.

Why have a Wedding Video?

It has become increasingly popular to have a video made of your wedding or Civil Partnership; it’s a great way to complement your photographer's work and gives you the opportunity to view the celebration from a different perspective after the event.

From experience most couples feel that their wedding day goes by in a blur and that they do not remember the finer details of the celebrations. Things like guests' outfits, excited bridesmaids and the guests laughing at the speeches can all get missed in the excitement. Throughout the day you are often in one place for a long time, while having photographs taken for example, and may miss some lovely moments elsewhere.

A video is an excellent way of capturing these details, allowing you and your guests to relive the event in quieter moments for years to come.

How we work

During the day we film in the background using a small DV or HDV camcorder, this allows us to film quietly without interruption to your big day. Normally we use one camera however extra cameras are available for larger weddings. It’s our challenge to make your wedding video interesting, fun and enjoyable to watch whilst maintaining the highest production standards and remaining unobtrusive throughout the day.

The finished DVD will be sent out to you one calendar month from the event and will be approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour in length, unused footage from the day can be purchased after the event and transferred onto DVD.

We also offer a ‘filming only’ package for couples on a tighter budget or wanting to edit there own wedding video, please email for more information.

Who are we?

The Shortfilm company is managed by Mark de Vaux-Balbirnie from a Kent based studio, having a background at the BBC and Channel 4 he has filmed over 300 weddings since starting his own company in 1999 (see History). Due to demand it’s sometimes impossible for him to film all his own weddings and has trained 2 assistants to help during busier periods.
